People in Lima, capital of Peru, can enjoy the long civilization of China and Latin American countries. On November 21, 2016, the grand cultural art exhibition "The River of Civilization - Mutual Learning Between Chinese and Latin American Civilizations" was officially launched in Peru's Archaeological Museum in Lima. Chinese President Xi Jinping toured the exhibition.

Taking three years to complete, the cultural exhibition was designed by Professor Wang Qijun of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Latin American experts of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and other experts especially for the 2016 China-Latin America Year of Cultural Exchange and the 2016 APEC Summit.

The exhibition was inspired by a speech given by President Xi at UNESCO Headquarters, in Paris, France, wherein he said that inter-civilization exchanges and mutual learning should be given full play as a bridge of friendship among peoples, a driving force behind human progress and a strong bond for world peace.

The exhibition presents the Chinese civilization and the three major civilizations of Latin America - the Aztec, Inca and Mayan civilizations. The exhibition covers almost 5,000 years over a total of 21 APEC member countries including Argentina, Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and others.

This exhibition is jointly sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council of China and Chinese Embassy in Peru. It is organized by China International Publishing Group. The exhibition will tour Latin American countries in the following two years following its premiere in Lima.
