Xi Jinping announced on October 24 the conclusion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing.

The congress elected a new Central Committee and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) at its closing session.

At the same session, Party delegates also passed resolutions on the report of the 18th CPC Central Committee, a work report of the CCDI and an amendment to the CPC Constitution.

The amendment to the CPC Constitution made Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era a new component of the Party's guide for action, according to the resolution.

Xi also delivered a speech at the closing session, which was attended by 2,336 Party delegates and specially-invited delegates from across the country.

The CPC National Congress began on October 18.
