African countries help China combat COVID-19
Upon the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in China, African countries provided strong support to China's fight against the epidemic. Countries such as Egypt and South Africa provided China with anti-epidemic supplies. Equatorial Guinea, Djibouti and other countries donated money. Leaders of African countries sent their messages of support.
China assists Africa in fighting COVID-19
As the COVID-19 pandemic spread in Africa, China quickly extended a helping hand by sending anti-pandemic supplies and anti-pandemic expert medical teams, providing training to local medical workers and sharing experiences in video conferences. Chinese companies and non-governmental organizations also helped by donating medical supplies and holding online anti-epidemic meetings.
China, Africa hold summit on solidarity against COVID-19
Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 in Beijing on June 17 via video link. Leaders of African countries, including members of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government and rotating chairs of major African sub-regional organizations, and the chairperson of the AU Commission, attended the summit. The UN secretary general and the WHO director general also attended the meeting as special guests.
Swahili edition of book on history of Tanzania-Zambia Railway launched in Tanzania
China and Tanzania launched the Swahili edition of a book on Tanzania-Zambia Railway titled A Monument to China-Africa Friendship in Dar es Salaam on August 20. Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Wang Ke and Tanzanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Palamagamba Kabudi attended the launching ceremony.
Trade fair promotes China-Africa cooperation
At the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services in Beijing, the Fifth Africa Day Forum was held on September 7 to discuss post-COVID-19 opportunities for China-Africa cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Great potential was identified at the forum in the fields of infrastructure, capital support and market opening.
20th anniversary of FOCAC marked
In a joint congratulatory message to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) on October 12, 2020, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Senegalese President Macky Sall said China and Africa are ready to uphold the spirit of solidarity and cooperation, jointly cope with various risks and challenges, and let their cooperation shine as an example of multilateralism and mutual benefits.
Fifth China-Africa Youth Festival kicked off
Forty-two African youth representatives were invited to participate in a series of cultural exchange activities such as roundtable talks, cultural activities, and sightseeing during the seven-day festival in China's capital Beijing and Jiangxi Province. During the festival, the youth visited working sites of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chinese enterprises, and hi-tech parks, as well as discovering China's natural landscapes.

Under the theme of Working Hand in Hand for a Shared Future - My Unforgettable Experience in 2020, the Second CHINAFRICA Short Video Competition aims to narrate unforgettable stories of China-Africa cooperation and closeness between the people and contribute to building an even closer China-Africa community with a shared future. The award ceremony of the competition was held in Beijing, Cape Town and Dakar simultaneously via video link.
Chinese anti-coronavirus vaccine arrives in Egypt
Egypt received the first batch of Chinese anti-coronavirus vaccine in early December 2020 to fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said that it's a historic day to receive the first air shipments of the Chinese vaccine at a press conference held at Cairo International Airport. The new Chinese vaccine will be available for citizens for free upon directives of the political leadership.
