China's IT Regulator Sets Timetable on 5G
China's information technology regulator says 5G technology is expected to put into commercial use by 2020

China's information technology regulator says 5G technology is expected to put into commercial use by 2020.

The Ministry of Industry and Information revealed that China started research on 5G technology at the start of the year.

In the next two years, China intends to develop 5G telecom frequencies and standards for testing and begin trial network operations.

This is the first time the Chinese government has released a specific 5G development timetable.

5G will be 10 to 20 times faster than the current 4G technology.

Earlier this week, mobile giants including Huawei and Ericsson displayed products which will adopt 5G at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
