A Chinese Book Center was launched at the National Library of Peru (NLP) in Lima on November 20 during President Xi Jinping's visit to the South American country.

The center was jointly established by China International Publishing Group (CIPG), a Chinese media conglomerate targeting international audiences, and the NLP.

The first of its kind in South America, the center will make it more convenient for Peruvians to read Chinese books and learn about Chinese culture as well as China's development.

At the launch ceremony, CIPG donated 1,000 books to the NLP on China's politics, economy and culture in either English or Spanish.
