President Joao Lourenco said Wednesday that the Angolan government is committed to raising agricultural production to eventually end food imports.
Speaking at an event marking the start of the 2017/2018 agricultural campaign in Cachiungo, a municipality in central Huambo province, Lourenco called for strategies and policies that stimulate large-scale production for food safety.
He emphasized the role of the agricutural sector in the country's economic diversification.
Angola plans to spend $363.4 million in building infrastructure for agribusiness development.
