A Chinese-produced and financed railway is set to make  its first test run in Kenya on May 31, 2017. 

The Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway runs close to 500 kilometers in length.

For the passenger service on the route, Nairobi station in Kenya's capital is the main station, and also the largest one. The station itself contains a number of Chinese elements, including its design, systems and standards. 

Architectural designs of the Nairobi station also contain Chinese elements. 

The large building itself appears to take on the shape of the Chinese character "pin" (品).

Inside Nairobi station, there are four main columns painted in red, which is said to represent China. 

The station itself can accommodate around 4,000 visitors on both the upper and lower floors. The entrance and ticket hall is on the first floor. The waiting room and ticket windows are located on the second floor. 

The design of ticket windows on the upper floor is similar to those on China's high-speed rail system. Automatic ticket machines at the Nairobi station were also made in China.
