Workshops aimed at raising wildlife conservation awareness amongst Chinese nationals working in Africa were held in Gabon and Cameroon respectively on April 24 and 28, as part of a cooperative effort by Chinese and African governments to reduce trafficking of products of endangered wildlife.

　　The two workshops conducted in Libreville, Gabon and Douala, Cameroon were attended by 50 local Chinese nationals from state-owned enterprises and private businesses.

　　Representatives from the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Management Authority (CITES MA) in China, Chinese General Administration of Customs and the Chinese Academy of Forestry introduced Chinese domestic wildlife laws and international regulations, and highlighted the recent wildlife trafficking cases involving Chinese nationals.

　　"Wildlife conservation is a shared responsibility between China and Africa," said Ma Aiguo, Deputy Director General of China's CITES MA. "China stands ready to support African states in their efforts to combat wildlife trafficking. Chinese nationals should comply with CITES regulations and relevant national laws."

　　Wildlife trade monitoring network TRAFFIC Senior Program Manager Xu Ling highlighted China's efforts in supporting wildlife conservation in Africa under the framework of FOCAC.

　　Chinese companies pledged to continue raising staff's awareness of wildlife protection.

　　This was the fifth workshop of its kind jointly conducted by TRAFFIC and World Wildlife Fund in collaboration with the Chinese Government since its inauguration in Kenya in January 2014.
