In January, just before the Chinese Lunar New Year, the outbreak of COVID-19 raged in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province. As of February 20, more than 70,000 people have been diagnosed with the virus in China.

While the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, Chinese people are convinced that the difficulties are temporary, and the victory against the epidemic is certain. To this end, the Chinese Government and people are united in their efforts to win this anti-epidemic war. These efforts have begun to show results, as the number of new cases has been declining recently.

At the same time, some countries have reached out to China to help through the difficulties. Many African governments, political leaders, enterprises and individuals have expressed their support for China in different ways.

Egypt donated 10 tons of medical supplies to China and vowed more support; The Ghanaian Government and a South African company donated masks; The Algerian Government donated protection and prevention supplies; Equatorial Guinea donated $2 million to help combat the epidemic; South Africa-based Standard Bank launched the “Wear Red for China” activity; A South African doctor working in China joined the Chinese people in the battle against the virus...

It was so much support that it is hard to quantify it.

It is reasonable to think that after the epidemic, the friendship between Chinese and African people will further deepen and the China-Africa community with a shared future will be even closer.
