According to Wang, the ACDC has played an active role in combating the epidemic in the continent over the past months. In February, it convened a ministerial meeting of African countries, formulating epidemic prevention and control strategies and issuing a joint declaration on the response to the COVID-19 outbreak. The organization later set up a special working group on coping with the epidemic and established an emergency management system. The ACDC also organized training on testing, risk communication, infection prevention and control in medical institutions. It provided testing kits and assigned experts to member countries to reinforce their testing capabilities and provide targeted support.
