Issue 45
From the Travel Editor – February 2018
  ·2018-02-01

Ernest Hemingway once said: "I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy."

I know how he felt. At least, I remembered exactly how he felt when I returned to the bush recently to experience the incredible Garden of Eden that is Chitwa Chitwa Private Game Lodge in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa. I was treated to an amazing variety of wild life up close and personal and I have to say that Chitwa Chitwa is now in my top 10 bush experiences of all time. I'm sure you will concur once you've been there.

A little further afield, we also visit one of the most fun-in-the-sun hotels on any coast anywhere in the world in my humble opinion. The Southern Sun Maputo is the only luxury hotel located right on the beach in Mozambique's capital city. In this issue I let you in on four days of summer bliss at this marvelous place with its superb food and great service. But I think you will find that four days here is not nearly enough.

Then we move further afield and we suggest a few places around the world where you can merrily swing with the single crowd on that most dreaded of days - Valentine's Day.

And for art lovers, we have a special treat in this issue. The five-star Vietnamese beach resort, The Anam, which celebrated its grand opening in April 2017, recently launched The Anam Art Trail, a new initiative allowing guests to uncover the country's fascinating culture and history through its artwork

So we hope you enjoy this February issue of Africa Travel and until next month, bon voyage!
