As the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) approaches, I would like to extend my cordial greetings and best wishes to all readers of ChinAfrica magazine.

China and Africa form a community of shared future. We have long stood together through thick and thin and are now facing unprecedented opportunities for cooperation. Let us work together toward win-win cooperation for common development within the framework of FOCAC and a more prosperous life for Chinese and African people.

Chinese and Africans will remain good friends, partners and brothers forever. Sincerity, friendship, equality, win-win cooperation and common development are the essential principles of friendly cooperation between China and Africa, constituting the driving force for the flourishing of our relations. China highly values and sincerely supports Africa's development, which has profound implications for advancing the lofty cause of peace and development of mankind. China will continue to uphold the guidelines of its Africa policy – sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith – and a balanced approach to principles and interests. Together with African countries, it will promote the all-round development of China-Africa friendly and cooperative ties and concentrate efforts on making the relationship between China and Africa an exemplar of the new type of international relations centered on mutually beneficial cooperation. All this aims to deliver more benefits to both Chinese and African people.
