China and Africa exchanges among young people have been further enhanced by the second stop of the "Africa in Focus" campus tour, which was launched at Peking University on October 21, 2012.
Co-hosted by Beijing Review and Peking University, the one-week event included lectures on Sino-African relations, a display of African paintings and screenings of African movies. The South African photography exhibition and a seminar titled "China-Africa Youth's Role in China-Africa Relations" also attracted large numbers of students.
"We aim to pool the unique resources of media and universities, continuously deepening the traditional friendship between China and Africa among young people, and actively create a good atmosphere for the sustained expansion of friendly China-Africa exchanges," said Wang Gangyi, President and Editor-in-Chief of Beijing Review, at the opening ceremony.
Present at the opening ceremony were leaders of relevant government ministries, African diplomats, representatives from non-governmental organizations and the media, university teachers, and students.
Peking University is the second stop of "Africa in Focus" campus tour. It is also a part of a series of activities in the "Africa in Focus" program arranged by the Ministry of Culture this year. The first tour was held in UIBE last May. This activity will be hosted by other Chinese universities in the future.
