Its geographic location as a mountain province and humid climate have combined to make Guizhou in southwest China the cradle of a variety of high-quality teas, both black and green.To make greater use of the advantage, the city of Duyun hosted Guizhou's first tea industry development conference, a four-day event attended by over 2,000 participants that kicked off on September 22.
Xiang Hongqiong, Governor of the Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou, said the event will promote all-round development of the tea industry in the province. Qiannan will use it to promote tea enterprises' integration, brand marketing, and better e-commerce for tea sales. The prefecture will also explore the potential of tea tourism, Xiang said.
In 2014, President Xi Jinping encouraged Duyun's tea brands to go out of the province for greater development.
Last year, tea plantation occupied about 4.41 billion squaremetersin Guizhou with an annual production capacity of 181,000 tons and output value of $2.7 billion.
