China Construction Bank (CCB), one of the four giants in China's commercial banking sector, opened a branch office in Cape Town in South Africa on September 23, 2015. It is the second branch the bank has opened in the country.
As a sub-branch of the Johannesburg Branch, the Cape Town Branch will focus on corporate banking businesses, commercial loans and deposits, trade financing and foreign exchange trading.
CCB set up its first branch in Johannesburg in 2000. By the end of June 2015 the Johannesburg branch had grown its South African Rand assets to more than R30.9 billion ($2.2 billion), ranking fourth among the 14 foreign banks in South Africa.
CCB has won wide recognition in the banking sector as well as in the market for its business performance.
By September 2015, CCB had established 26 first-grade branches and more than 130 various institutions in 24 countries and regions worldwide.
China's three other banks making up the "big four" are Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and Bank of China. |
