High Consumption Targets

Africa

A recent report by Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), a South African investment bank, has ranked Nigeria top among the 10 best African nations with high consumption potential. The report says when multinational companies look at factors determining where to place their products, they should consider population size, population growth rates, per-capita GDP rates and urbanization growth rates. By combining these variables into a single measure, RMB has created a ranking index of the countries with the best outlook for consumer goods. The index has Nigeria at the top, followed by Ethiopia, the DR Congo, Kenya, and Tanzania.

 

 Data Center

Cote d'Ivoire

The Chinese telecommunication company Huawei has launched a data center in Cote d'Ivoire's southern town of Grand-Bassam. According to Huawei, the project will help the government ministries in terms of information and communication technologies. Crucial government information will be stored at the center, dubbed Cote d'Ivoire's e-government project. Several parts of the capital will be connected to the center's fiber optic cable to allow rapid exchange of data online.
