➲ SUDAN _June: China agreed to extend a loan of $90 million for the establishment of the Africa Technological City in Sudan, an initiative affiliated with Sudan's Ministry of Science and Technology.
➲ NIGERIA_JUNE: Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) signed a contract with two Chinese companies, namely Hydro China and Harbin Electricity Corp., for the rehabilitation of Kainji power station. The contract is worth $81.7 million.
➲ SOUTH AFRICA_JUNE: Taiwan-based vehicle manufacturer China Motor Corp. (CMC) announced plans to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant outside Harrismith in South Africa's Free State province.
➲ SUDAN_JUNE: China and Sudan signed agreements on loans for infrastructure and equipment and for economic and technological cooperation during a meeting between President Hu Jintao and his Sudanese counterpart Umar al-Bashir in Beijing.
➲ KENYA_JUNE: Kenya signed a concessional loan agreement with China for around $110 million. The loan will be used to build the third referral hospital at Kenyatta University in the capital Nairobi.
➲ SOUTH SUDAN_JULY: China started a welder training course to help South Sudanese master knowledge and techniques relevant to the petroleum industry. The project is undertaken by the China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corp. (CPECC) in conjunction with the new state of South Sudan's Ministry of Energy and Mining.
