New Appointment
IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has proposed the appointment of Zhu Min, currently Special Advisor to the IMF Managing Director, to the position of IMF's deputy managing director. Zhu last year joined the IMF from the People's Bank of China, China's central bank. Lagarde has proposed that Zhu assume his duties in the newly created deputy managing director position on July 26, 2011, working with the other three deputy managing directors in support of the managing director.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is leading the way for African women in politics as she stepped down from her role as the managing director of the World Bank to become Nigeria's new finance minister, spurring hopes of reform in sub-Saharan Africa's second biggest economy. She was previously considered as a possible replacement for the former World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz. |
