Grassroots Philanthropist

Gong Xueming, a citizen of Cixi, Zhejiang Province, has moved many people with his continuous philanthropy over the past 15 years. Gong, 40, has donated more than 700,000 yuan ($111,111) to over 100 poor students, although he himself is not a rich man. Gong also leads volunteers to plead for more donations to poor students. Thus, more than 5,700 students have already received help.

Singer Changes Tune

After having captivated audiences with his hits such as Seven Seconds, Youssou N'Dour now plans to move to the political stage after announcing his intention to run for President of Senegal during the national elections in February. N'Dour addressed his lack of political experience by saying, "I have studied at the school of the world. Travel teaches as much as books."
