Marathon Man

Uganda's Stephen Kiprotich continued the trend of East Africa's dominance of long-distance running at this year's London Olympics when he took the gold medal in the men's marathon. Kiprotich won the race in 2 hours 8 minutes 1 second, becoming the second Ugandan in history to win Olympic gold.

IFC Head 

The World Bank announced in August Cai Jinyong, a Chinese national with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, is appointed as the new executive vice president and CEO of the International Finance Corp., a member of the World Bank Group. Cai said he looks forward to working with all of IFC's stakeholders and clients to continue to create opportunities for people to escape poverty and improve their lives.
