Will Hunting Wildlife Harm the Ecological Balance of Nature?

FOR

Li Feng

Member of the Expert Committee of Wild Animal Hunting

While protecting wild animals, we should also properly make use of them, as they are renewable resources. Hunting is a way of properly using the resource. Without hunting, the reproduction of animals will become uncontrollable, causing the number of animals to reach the limits of the bearing capacity of the local ecological environment. Being a way of following the rules of the breeding and growing of animals, hunting a small number of wildlife will ensure the ecological balance.

Some people don't think foreigners should hunt the wildlife in China. Our focus of approving the application is not which country the hunter comes from, but whether there are certain numbers of animals that can be hunted. If there are, any application, including Chinese, can be allowed to hunt as long as they follow Chinese laws and regulations.

Wang Wei

Hunting broker

Hunting on a restricted scale will help keep the continuation of the species, protect the local environment and benefit the local economy.

Having personal experience of guiding foreigners to hunt in China, I found local governments paid more attention to protecting wildlife after they received significant revenue from each hunting group.

As for local herdsmen, they will profit from guiding hunting and receiving hunters. Along with government education, herdsmen will gradually realize the potential value of wildlife and the significance to protect them. In this way, poaching can be radically reduced.

Bi Yanying

Professor of Law

From a legal perspective, it is reasonable to give licenses to applications from foreign hunters to go game hunting. The Law of the People's Republic of China on Protection of Wildlife permits hunters from home and abroad to hunt wild animals on a small scale provided the hunting has no impact on maintaining continuation of the species and will promote the protection of wild animals.

The majority of the fees paid by hunters have been given to local government. And older animals will naturally die even if they are not hunted. Therefore, by allowing hunters to shoot a small number of wild animals, local government can use the revenue to protect the wildlife and helps preserve the species.
