ChinAfrica went out to ask young Africans and Chinese what they thought about increased Sino-African cooperation and what needs to be done to improve the current contact between the two

I have been to South Africa many times. I found that local young people are looking forward to visiting China, for they believe that there are many opportunities here. Apart from wood carvings, Africa has a lot of very new and trendy creative industries that can be introduced into China. Likewise, apart from China's mobile phone industry, you may discover various cultures from different regions in the country. Our media coverage to allow the African public to understand China is far from enough. But I notice that CCTV is very concerned about its overseas channel in Africa. That is a good start.

The young generation of Africa is significantly influenced by Western culture and values, with relatively little understanding of China. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the exchanges among young leaders from China and Africa at various levels. But currently, the bilateral communications are only limited to areas such as volunteer services and study. The daily exchanges among young people are far behind the vigorous development of Sino-African trade and investment.

Compared with Western governments or institutions, Chinese people always adhere to "talk less, do more" mentality. Many big Chinese enterprises have done well for the local people, but lack more communications with the local community. I believe the enhanced Sino-African youth cooperation will play a great role in further promoting the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
