Inner Mongolia University of Technology |
Founded in 1951, Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT) originated from Suiyuan Higher Technical School. In 1958, it was developed into Inner Mongolia Engineering College, and in 1993, it was renamed IMUT.
With nearly 60 years of development, IMUT has become a multi-disciplinary university with the teaching focus not only on engineering, but also on natural sciences, liberal arts, economics, management and law.
Currently, a system of multi-level education has been formed, ranging from postgraduate programs, undergraduate programs (including college preparation courses for minority students), two-year diploma programs, vocational education programs to continued education programs.
IMUT has two campuses (the main one and Jinchuan campus), covering a total area of 1.65 square km. Both students and faculty members have access to teaching and research facilities and equipment, as well as a library which collects around 1.92 million copies of books and journals (including e-books).
IMUT has set up 112 out-of-school practice bases in large and medium-sized enterprises. In addition, a variety of cultural activities, including art festivals and contests have enriched students' campus life, attracting an increasing number of participants.
IMUT has collaborations with such domestic universities as Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and Beijing University of Technology in the fields of faculty training, academic exchanges and reform in education and teaching. It has also established long-term cooperative relations with some well-known universities in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Japan, Russia, Australia and the Republic of Mongolia.
