Founded in 1917, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is the oldest financial university in China. It's a multi-dimensional university, which focuses on applied economics and management with theoretical economics as its basis. Its subjects include science, law, philosophy and humanities.
In 1981, SUFE became the country's first financial university authorized to confer doctoral degrees. In addition, it was one of the first nine schools selected as an MBA Experimental Education Base and one of the first schools to set up a post-doctoral program in economics.
At present, SUFE has four campuses and comprises 12 schools; one graduate school and over 20 finance and economics research centers. With an enrollment of over 22,200 students, SUFE boasts a qualified faculty of more than 990 teachers, including over 530 professors and associate professors.
SUFE regularly collaborates with such institutions as the World Bank's Economic Development Institute, the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations Development Program. In addition, it works well with international professional organizations and cooperates with many universities worldwide. So far, SUFE has created six joint undergraduate programs, signed multiple foreign-exchange agreements and established several training centers for international examinations.
