
Southeast University (SEU), one of the national key universities under the Ministry of Education, is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China. Founded in 1902, it was known as Sanjiang Normal College. Independent from NJU in 1952, it was renamed as Nanjing Institute of Technology and in May 1988, it took its present name.
SEU now comprises 30 schools and departments specializing in science, engineering, art, social sciences, law, economics, management and languages, with engineering as its focus. They provide 70 undergraduate programs, 255 master's programs, 164 doctoral programs, and 23 post-doctoral research programs. Some disciplines enjoy leading positions in the country. They include architecture, civil engineering, electronics, information technology, energy, power engineering, and transportation technology.
SEU is active in cooperating with counterparts in other countries. It has signed cooperation agreements with more than 100 universities, research institutes or corporations. To date more than 2,030 international students from 60 countries have studied here. It provides Chinese Government Scholarship and SEU Scholarship for international students.
