
Yangzhou University (YZU) is a key comprehensive university of provincial level in Jiangsu Province. Established in 1992, it is a merger of six colleges. YZU's eight campuses cover an area of about 287 hectares, and are closely located in Yangzhou's downtown.
The history of YZU can be traced back to as early as 1902, when Zhang Jian, a renowned modern businessman and educator, set up the Teachers School of Tongzhou and Tonghai Agricultural School.
Today, YZU has 27 colleges offering 107 undergraduate programs in 12 disciplines, 235 master programs and 68 doctoral programs, and seven research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships. There are over 1,700 research projects that receive a total of 300 million yuan in research funding annually.
YZU has more than 34,700 full-time undergraduate students, over 7,900 postgraduate students, and about 11,000 students in continuing education. Of the 3,780 faculty and staff members working at YZU, about 1,170 are professors and associate professors.
YZU has set up close links and academic relations with a number of institutions of research and higher learning in over 30 countries and regions. Currently, over 300 international students are studying at the university.
