
China Pharmaceutical University (CPU), originally the National Pharmaceutical School (founded in 1936), has been noted as one of the best universities for pharmaceutical studies in China, with a wide variety of specialized subjects. According to statistics from the Ministry of Education (MOE), in 2008, its Pharmacy and Traditional Chinese Pharmacy departments ranked No.1 and No.3 respectively in the ministry's discipline evaluations, among all Chinese universities.
Located in the city of Nanjing, CPU is composed of two campuses: Xuanwumen campus in the downtown area and Jiangning campus on the southeastern outskirts of the city. It consists of 10 schools and departments, offering 20 bachelor degree programs, 29 master programs and 24 doctoral programs. It also has two research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships.
At present, CPU has 1,400 faculty and staff members, with 13,640 full-time students enrolled. CPU graduates are highly regarded by employers. Their employment rate is top among China's higher institutions of learning.
CPU was the first university authorized by MOE to admit full-time pharmacy students, continuing education students and senior visiting scholars from overseas. The university has made academic exchange agreements with 27 higher education institutions in different countries and regions, and has enrolled international students from 57 countries so far.
